biography
Accidents happen. Maria Valentina and Jorge weren’t in any position to be having kids— they weren’t even married— but the second they found out, they put everything in motion to be as ready as two borderline-poverty young adults could be. They married in a low-key setting, they rented as cheap of an apartment they could get, Jorge began working two jobs and Maria Valentina worked overtime at her own until her doctors warned her time and time again that she needed to be resting.
When Desiderio was born, he wasn’t as much of a handful as their families and friends made having a baby seem. Their little boy slept through the night and rarely ever cried, something that Maria later said had to have happened because no one ever put him down. They made things work as best as they could financially, working opposite schedules of each other, and when their little Desi was barely two years old, they realized they were pregnant with their second child. Two years seemed to be appropriate gap between children, as the news of another came along when their oldest was four, and Desiderio’s younger siblings didn’t seem to have the same graceful baby stage that he had— but with a toddler or two to take care of, it wasn’t any wonder why.
Growing up with a father who worked all the time, Desi cherished the time he had with his father.

01. His father was insistent on naming Braden after him, and making him Declan, Jr., but Bridget refused to do that. Instead, Braden was named for both his grandfathers - Braden Callaghan and Hayes Donnell.
02. Growing up, Braden didn't get along with Erica at all. In fact, the two were constantly at odds despite their parents' being the best of friends. It wasn't until they both returned to New York - Braden to work on his MBA and Erica to work on her practicum - that they both realized their torture of each other as children was to hide how they really felt. They've been together since.
03. Though he enjoyed his time in California, while working on his undergrad, Braden was anxious to get back to New York. So, he applied at grad schools in the north east only with the hopes that one of them would accept him. Luckily, NYU was all too happy to do so, and he was all too happy to get back to where he'd grown up.
04. Playing music (guitar) and reading are two things that are guaranteed to help Braden relax - outside of massages and downtime with his fiancée, of course.
05. His first tattoo, "Callaghan" across his upper back, was done shortly after his 18th birthday. His mother didn't approve, especially since it made both his younger sisters want to get tattoos of their own. He got his second tattoo, a celtic across on the back of his neck, shortly after he moved back to New York in the summer of 2003.

Though Braden is what one would call a more recent Marvel fan, he's quickly become quite addicted to everything that ties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe - from the one shot's to the big budget Blockbuster movies to the TV shows that have come from it. He devours it all, repeatedly, with absolutely no shame. Is especially a huge fan of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
07. Aside from Erica, Braden considers both his sisters to be his closest friends and confidantes. Despite the fact that they're both younger than he is (Alana by three years and Cara by seven years), he frequently goes to them for advice or when he needs a sounding board to bounce thoughts and ideas off of.
08. Collects novelty shot glasses and beer mugs from bars all across the country, but has never used any one of them. Instead, they're all carefully lining the top shelves of the wet bar in his garage-turned-man cave. The shot glasses that can be used are on the lower shelves, well within reach.
09. Despite countless attempts, Braden has never been able to quit smoking successfully. Instead, he stops for a week or two - sometimes even longer than that - before picking up the habit again as if he'd never stopped to begin with.
10. Though he prefers to handle the business end of anything to do with Eau de Vie, Braden will occasionally assist Erica in those things that don't require an education and a degree, and does occasionally enjoy hanging around the front of the shop to help customers and man the registers.
